What is baked spaghetti?

  • Baked spaghetti is a slightly different version of traditional spaghetti.  Instead of dishing the marinara sauce on top of the noodles you bake everything together and serve it out of one pot.
  • Easy baked spaghetti casserole can be made with or without meat.

How do you cook baked spaghetti?

  • The key to cooking your baked spaghetti noodles is to only boil them to al dente, keeping them more firm, and not boiling them the full time.  This will prevent the spaghetti from getting mushy when they are added to the sauce and baked in the oven.

How do you make baked spaghetti?

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Cook spaghetti noodles according to package directions, minus 3 minutes to keep noodles firm, drain and set aside.
  2. In a 12 in cast iron skillet over medium heat, sauté onions and garlic for 4 minutes.  Add in precooked meatballs or homemade meatballs, and pasta sauce.  Mix to combine and meatballs are heated through.  Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.
  3. Pour cooked spaghetti in into skillet and toss to combine with pasta sauce.  Add meatballs back to skillet and place on top of noodles.  Top with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses and bake uncovered for 20 minutes.

This is an easy baked spaghetti casserole that will be a hearty favorite for you and your family to enjoy.  Make it with the meatballs or leave them out, but baking the spaghetti and topping it with lot of cheese will make this a huge hit with the kids.

Can you freeze baked spaghetti?

  • Yes.  Make sure to allow the baked spaghetti casserole to cool then either store it in the pan you cooked it in, if you have room in your freezer, or transfer it to an airtight container.  It will keep in the freezer up to 2 months.

I promise you will love simplicity and deliciousness of this easy baked spaghetti recipe served up hot and bubbling and ready in just 30 minutes.
