Sweet and Sour Pork Stir Fry

Sweet and Sour Pork is an amazing stir fry that is easy to make and  bursting with flavor.  Made in 20 minutes and can be served over rice or noodles, you and your family will love each and every bite.

Sweet and Sour Pork

Can dinner be made in 20 minutes, taste amazing, and be the perfect weeknight meal when you are on the go?  Yes, yes, and YES!  All things are possible with this Sweet and Sour Pork recipe.

No need to panic over what to make or not having the time to make it, this will be ready in a flash and be bursting with flavor from start to finish.  This sweet and sour pork is flavored with an easy homemade sweet and sour sauce, chunks of pineapples and goes deliciously over rice or noodles.

Making stir fry allows you to be creative with proteins and vegetables so your family will love what they are eating.  Sweet and sour pork is a great alternative to chicken, but is still lean and tender in every bite.

I serve this stir fry up with white rice, but brown rice, yakisoba noodles, chow mein noodles,  rice noodles, or just on its own you can’t go wrong.

What is sweet and sour pork?

Sweet and sour is actually a very broad term used to describe a variety sauces, cooking method and cuisines. This style of cooking and sauce is often used in China and incorporated into many different Chinese dishes.

What cut of pork is used for sweet and sour pork?

You can use whatever cut of pork you would like.  I like to use a pork tenderloin and cut it into thin strips to fry up in the wok or heavy frying pan.

How do you make a quick sweet and sour sauce?

  • In a medium bowl combine cornstarch, pineapple juice, seasoned rice vinegar, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce.  A medium glass bowl with sweet and sour sauce ingredients with pineapple juice being poured in.   • Mix to combine.  Pour into wok or skillet and bring to a boil, allow to thicken about 2-3 minutes then reduce heat and add pork and vegetables

How do you make sweet and sour pork?

  2.   3. Making sweet and sour pork with pineapple adds a lot of sweet flavor without being too sweet and once these pineapple chunks are stir fried, they literally melt in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 LB pork tenderloin cut into cubes
  • 1 20 oz can pineapple chunks drained
  • 1 green pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 red pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp canola oil
  • ½ tsp garlic salt and pepper

For the Sweet and sour sauce:

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup seasoned rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp lite soy sauce
