How do you make cake pops at home?
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and using a pre-baked fresh or frozen pound cake loaf slice in 1-inch slices and then cut each slice in half.
- Using decorative straws place each straw in one end of the piece of pound cake, place on prepared baking sheet and place in the freezer for 15 minutes.
- In two separate bowls melt dark chocolate and white chocolate melting wafers in 30 second increments, stirring often until chocolate is melted and smooth.
- One cake pop at a time, dip into melted chocolate and let the excess run off a bit, cover with favorite sprinkles and place back on sheet pan to let the chocolate harden. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
How long can cake pop sit out?
You can leave cake pops out at room temperature for about 1 week. I recommend storing them in an airtight container and keeping them in the refrigerator so they stay fresh longer.
How do you keep cake pops from falling off the stick?
- You can melt the chocolate and dip the end of the straw into the melted chocolate and then insert the straw into the cake pop about half way and place in the freezer to allow it to harden.
- Or you can simply insert the straw directly into the cake pop and place in the freezer for 15 minutes.
Cake pops make a fun Valentine’s Day treat or edible center piece for your next party, and made with a buttery pound cake each bite will be pure delight.
So don’t make dessert difficult, make it simple, fun, and delicious. You and your family will love eating these adorable cake pops dipped in chocolate served up like a lollipop.
