Spicy Sausage Cheese Balls

Wether you are headed out to a tailgating party, hosting a holiday or cocktail party or just having friends and family over for game night, these sausage balls will make the perfect appetizers and will put a “W” in the win column.  Every bite will be full of jalapeños, onions, mushrooms, sausage, cheese and so much more.  Serve them up on a plate with a bowl of warm melted velveeta cheese and some toothpicks to grab and dip and watch the party get started.

I made these spicy sausage balls for a night out at our friends house and they were a huge hit.  I seriously think meat rolled into balls, baked or fried and served with creamy, cheesy, or spicy dipping sauce is always a huge success.  They are super easy to transport, just leave them on the sheet pan or toss them on a serving platter and cover with foil to take to any party.

How do you make sausage balls with bisquick?

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and spray a rimmed baking sheet lightly with nonstick cooking spray or piece of parchment paper on the sheet and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl combine sausage, bisquick, milk, diced onions, diced jalapeno, diced mushrooms, chopped parsley, garlic salt, pepper, grated cheddar cheese and grated mozzarella cheese.
  3. Form into 1-1-1/2 inch balls and place on prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake 25 minutes and serve.

Can sausage balls be made ahead of time?

  • Yes.  Prepare spicy sausage balls and keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 24 hours.

Can sausage balls be frozen?

  • Spicy sausage balls can be frozen.  You can freeze them uncooked or after they have been cooked.
  • Uncooked bisquick spicy sausage balls keep longer in the freezer than do cooked sausage balls.

How do you reheat sausage balls?

  • To reheat sausage balls wether they have been frozen or not, on a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Set oven to 350 degrees and cook for 25 minutes until fully heated through.

  1. Melted velveet cheese.
  2. Marinara sauce
  3. Dijon mustard
  4. Sour cream with chives
  5. Nacho cheese dip
  6. Ketchup
  7. BBQ sauce

How to keep sausage balls warm?

  • Since these sausage balls are made on a rimmed baking sheet, to keep them warm at your party place them in the crock pot/slow cooker lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray and turn it to warm.
  • That will keep the spicy sausage cheese balls warm and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs spicy Italian sausage
  • 1-1/2 cups original Bisquick mix
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup onion diced
  • 1/3 cup jalapeno diced
  • ½ cup mushrooms diced
  • 3 tbsp parsley chopped
  • ½ tsp garlic salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 4 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 12 oz original velveeta cheese

Instructions
