Cabbage and kielbasa, it just kind of rolls off the tongue and oh how it taste amazing too.  I love to make skillet meals because they give you a chance to mix flavors and have fun with cooking.  This Cabbage and Kielbasa Skillet is easy and delicious and just makes me feel happy with all the hearty ingredients sautéed into one sensational meal.  Who new cabbage could be the star of the show!

This Cabbage and Kielbasa Skillet doesn’t stop at cabbage.  It is full of baby red potatoes, carrots, leeks, onions, and topped with some freshly grated parmesan cheese.  The flavors all sautéed together are incredible and it is just the perfect side dish or can be your main course as well.  It really is a great combination of flavors and textures you are going to love.

How do you make cabbage taste good?

Just follow this recipe and your cabbage will taste sensational.

  1. In a large skillet heat safflower oil over medium-high heat and add sliced kielbasa.  Cook until browned on both sides, about 8 minutes and then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet add butter and allow to melt, then pour in quartered baby red potatoes and season with garlic salt and pepper.  Cook 5 minutes stirring frequently so they don’t burn.
  3. Add diced onions, leeks, garlic, sliced carrots, and brussels sprouts (halved) to potatoes and cook another 5 minutes until vegetables and potatoes are tender.
  4. Push vegetables and potatoes to the sides of the skillet and add 1 cup of cabbage at a time, allowing for it to cook down.
  5. Stir all ingredients together and add the kielbasa back to skillet.  Stir again and cook for 5 more minutes until everything is heated through.  Top with fresh gated parmesan cheese and parsley.

Ingredients:

  • 2-12.5oz Kielbasa, sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons safflower oil
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/3 cup chopped leeks
  • 2 cups brussels sprouts, halved
  • 3 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 cups baby red potatoes, quartered
  • 2 carrots peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp cracked pepper
  • parsley for garnish (optional)

Directions:
