Sheet Pan Herb Garlic Butter Surf and Turf
Surf and Turf is a great way to enjoy good food and close friends. I say “close” friends because it can get a little messy, sometimes those shrimp or scallops can go flying off your plate, but mostly because it is fun to put the sheet pan in the middle of the table and have everyone help themselves, family style.
Dinner doesn’t always have to be clean and neat and it most definitely needs to be delicious and fun. I love having good friend over and sitting around the table and sharing stories of our week or listening to adventures of their weeks to come. Sheet Pan Herb Garlic Butter Surf and Turf is the fun way to eat, drink, and be merry. Food is such a common denominator among us all, so why not enjoy it and enjoy who we make it for.
Surf and Turf can come in a variety of different ways, but I like to keep mine simple with some shrimp, scallops and then a little bit of asparagus to add a little pop of color. That way, if someone doesn’t particularly like asparagus they may be more apt to trying it if it catches their eye.
Surf and Turf is a good way to change things up when cooking for friends (as long as they like seafood of course), from the traditional pasta or even BBQ. I know I can get into a cooking fixation and always make the same thing for people when they come over, but Surf and Turf is a great way to shake it up and enjoy all the goodness in that steak and seafood have to offer.
How do you make Sheet Pan Surf and Turf?
- Place oven rack on the highest slot in your oven. Pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees on the Roast Setting.
- Spray a rimmed sheet pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
- In large bowl melt herb garlic butter and add asparagus, tossing to coat and place around the edges of prepared sheet pan.
- In same bowl melt herb garlic butter and coat each side of the steak, season with garlic salt and pepper and place in the middle of sheet pan. Roast for 9 minutes.
- Remove sheet pan and flip steaks. Turn your oven to broil.
- Meanwhile place the shrimp and scallops in a large bowl and melted herb garlic butter , mix to coat. Season with garlic salt, pepper, and old bay seasoning. Add to sheet pan with asparagus and steak and broil for 3-5 minutes until shrimp and scallops are pink and steak is cooked to desired doneness.
- Top steaks with herb garlic butter, fresh herbs, and lemon for garnish.
Tips for making the best Sheet Pan Surf and Turf:
- Make sure to place your oven rack as high as it will go, you are roasting your meat with cooks it fast without drying it out.
- You can use any cut of meat that you like, I like T-bone steaks because they are flavorful and enough for multiple people.
- If your seafood is done, but your want your steaks cooked a bit more, remove the seafood and asparagus from the sheet pan and just broil the steaks a bit longer.
- Do not squeeze lemon juice on the seafood before you mix it with the melted butter, otherwise the butter will harden up and not coat the seafood well.
