This Grilled Turkey Sandwich just got turned up a notch.  Turkey, bacon, and all the trimmings   dipped in gravy, this is going to be the best sandwich you sink your teeth into.

Move over grilled cheese (but not too far) have I got a sandwich for you!  This Grilled Turkey Sandwich is loaded with the best of your holidays, with a little BLT added into the mix.  Every bite is the essence of what we work so hard for in the kitchen each and every year all combined into one luxurious sandwich not to mention the final touch of dipping it into gravy.  Ok, so this may put you into another food coma, but I promise it will be worth it.

This Grilled Turkey Sandwich will not disappoint, and I loved adding the bacon (because bacon makes everything better) the lettuce for a crisp crunch, and the tomatoes for a soft subtle texture at the top.  And don’t think you butter this bread, oh no.  You slather on the homemade herb mayonnaise that is the icing on the cake.  So don’t get over your holidays to quickly without trying this amazingly delicious, multiple decker, Grilled Turkey Sandwich.

What is on a Turkey Sandwich?

A turkey sandwich can have so many layers it’s almost hard to stop building.  For this Turkey Sandwich I added almost all my leftovers and then added a few favorites too.

  • Cranberry sauce
  • Stuffing
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Turkey
  • Bacon
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes

How do I make a hot Turkey Sandwich?

  • In a sauce pan or skillet heat your gravy until it begins to bubble, stirring often.
  • Add in your turkey and stir to combined.
  • Heat turkey in gravy, stirring frequently for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Spread turkey evenly on a piece of bread and place another piece on top.

Leftover Turkey Sandwich

Grilled Turkey Sandwich

A delicious way to grill up a Turkey Sandwich with all the trimmings.

Ingredients:

  • 8 pieces of white bread
  • 8 slices of turkey
  • 1 cup of cranberry sauce
  • 1 cup of stuffing
  • 1-1/2 cups of mashed potatoes
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 6 pieces of thick cut bacon, cut in half
  • 2 large tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 cups gravy-warmed

For the Herb Mayonnaise:

  • 1 cup real mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped thyme

Directions:

  1.  Make Herb mayonnaise: mix all ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Place herb mayonnaise on one side of all 8 pieces of bread.
  3. Take one piece of bread, herb side down and layer the ingredients: 1 Tablespoon cranberry sauce, 1 Tablespoon stuffing, 2 Tablespoons mashed potatoes, 2 pieces of turkey, 3 pieces of bacon, 1 piece of lettuce, and 2 tomatoes.  Repeat same steps with remaining 3 slices of bread.
  4. Add the second piece of bread on top with herb mayonnaise side up.
  5. Heat a large skillet on medium heat and add two of the sandwiches, grill until bread is golden brown on one side and carefully flip to grill the other side, (about 3-4 minutes a side).
  6. Remove sandwiches and repeat with remaining sandwiches, serve hot with gravy for dipping.

Feel free to add more of your favorite trimmings to the sandwiches.
