Being able to cook a healthy and delicious meal in a short amount of time makes life so much easier. Salmon is a great fish to cook in the skillet and it cooks quickly. You can remove the skin on the salmon or leave it on, but it will still cook nicely.
How do you remove skin from salmon?
- If you want to remove the skin you can do it a couple ways.
- You can remove the skin by placing the salmon skin side down on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife and placing your opposite hand on top of the fish with a bit of pressure so it doesn’t move, cut between the flesh and the skin being careful to do your best at removing the least amount of flesh.
- The second way to remove the skin is waiting until it has cooked. More often than not, the skin will actually separate itself from the flesh once the cooking process begins, making it easy to remove with minimal flesh being removed.
- With the second technique of skin removal make sure to use a nonstick spray or olive oil in the pan so the skin won’t stick to the pan making it hard to clean the pan.
If you are new to eating fish, salmon is a good fish to try. It really has a great buttery flavor and doesn’t have that strong “fishy” flavor that most people don’t like.
There are many different types of salmon, and they run at different times of the year. The actual salmon run starts in May and ends in September. The first to run are the King salmon which taste amazing. The second to run are the red Sockeye, followed by the Coho which are referred to as “silver” salmon.
