Fajitas, one of the many delicious items on a menu at your favorite Mexican restaurant, so why not recreate them at home.  You can enjoy the sizzle, the smell, and of course the taste without having to leave your house.

Now I know it’s probably easier to have them made for you than making them yourself, but I promise these Steak Fajitas are not only sensational, they are quick and easy to make.  Plus, look at the money you will save making them at home. 

Which steak is best for fajitas?

You can use several different types of steak for fajitas:

  • Flank steak
  • Skirt steak
  • Top Sirloin

Steak Fajitas are great to make because not only are they easy, juicy, and delicious they make a ton of food so you can feed plenty of people.  And just because they are fajitas doesn’t mean you can only enjoy them during Cinco De Mayo, they are a perfect go to meal any night of the week.

What do you season Steak Fajitas with?

  • For this steak fajita recipe I seasoned the steak with the following:
    • Garlic salt
    • Fresh ground pepper
    • Fajita seasoning
    • Juice of one lime

Fajitas are a great dinner idea because you can make the meat, pepper and onion mixture and then everyone can add their favorite fixings as they assemble their fajitas.

Fajitas don’t have to be just steak, they can be chicken, shrimp, pork, vegetarian or a combination of any of them.  So don’t limit yourself, make a variety and have a fajitas smorgasbord.

How do you make steak fajitas on the stove?

  1. Take your steak out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking and season both sides with garlic salt, pepper, and fajita seasoning.
  2. In a heavy skillet heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium high heat.  Once skillet is hot add the steak and let cook for 5 minutes.  Flip the steak and cook another 5 minutes or until it reaches desired doneness.  Remove steak from skillet and let rest.
  3. In the same skillet add thinly sliced peppers and onions.  Season with fajita seasoning and sauté over medium high heat until slightly tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Slice the steak into thin strips, and add back into the skillet over the peppers and onions.
  5. Serve in skillet with sliced avocado, lime slices, and flour or corn tortillas.

Fajitas are a classic meal that can be served with a variety of different things, they can be kept simple or can be stacked up high with toppings such as:

  • Guacamole
  • Sour cream
  • Pinto, black, or refried beans
  • Salsa (red or green)
  • Shredded cheese

  • 1lb flank steak
  • 1 Package Fajita Seasoning, divided
  • 1-1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1-1/2 tsp pepper
  • Juice of one lime
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 green, red, and yellow pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 avocados, thinly sliced
  • Pico de gallo ( homemade or store bought)
  • Flour or corn tortillas
  • Cilantro and sliced limes to garnish (optional)

Directions:
