Soy Glazed Flank Steak

Have you ever thought you could make an amazing skillet meal under 20 minutes?  This Soy Glazed Flank Steak will prove you can.  This flank steak is robust with flavor and simple to make you will love it.  There is just something about garlic, soy sauce, and ginger that packs a wallop of flavor in every bite.

You don’t need a wok to cook this Soy Glazed Flank Steak in, all you need is a skillet and your set.  I loved serving this over rice and using the extra juice from the meat mixture to add to the top of the steak and rice combination.  It has so much flavor you won’t need to add anything else to it.

Flank steak is a lean cut of meat and most commonly is cut against the grain and into strips, which is exactly what I did for this recipe.  It also helps it cook faster and quicker. You can just pan sear it if you want it on the pink side and that way the outside will have full flavor and the inside will be soft and tender.

Soy Glazed Flank Steak can be added to any stir fry or would even taste amazing tossed into a salad.  Making a meal that is versatile is a fun way to try out new things.  You could divide up the flank steak and have some over rice add a vegetable to it and then one night serve it over ramen noodles.  However you choose to serve your Soy Glazed Flank Steak it will not disappoint, and will be delicious from start to finish.

How do you cook flank steak on the stove?

  • Season flank steak with garlic sat and pepper
  • Cut into thin strips, cutting against the grain
  • Place flank steak in a frying pan, cast iron skillet, or wok with hot sesame oil
  • Fry in batches 4 minutes a side, until no longer pink

Tips for making the best soy glazed flank steak:

  • Take your flank steak out of the refrigerator and let rest to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
  • When cutting your flank steak, cut agains the grain.
  • Season with garlic salt, pepper and/or steak seasoning.
  • Don’t over cook your steak, since flank steak is a little bit of a tougher meat, make sure to cook it for about 4 minutes a side.  You want it a little pink in the middle because it will continue to cook a bit when you take it off the stove.
  • Allow your steak to rest covered after you cook it, the moisture will re-absorb into the meat allowing it to be tender and juicy.
  • Reserve any juices in the pan and pour over the top of the meat once you serve it.
