Salisbury Steak Casserole is a hearty mix of ground beef and sautéed mushrooms and onions, in irresistible gravy that is topped with cheesy mashed potatoes all made simply in one skillet.
24ozcontainer refrigerated mashed potatoesheated to package directions.
2cupsshredded white sharp cheddar cheese
3/4cupshalf and half
2tbspbutter
parsley for garnish
Instructions
Turn oven on to high broil. In a medium mixing bowl add ground beef, horseradish, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, pepper, and dry onion soup mix. Using a large spoon or your hands combine ingredients well. Pour oil into skillet and add meat mixture, mushrooms and onions and sautée over medium high heat until meat is cooked through.

For the gravy: in a large measuring cup or mixing bowl whisk together 1 tbsp dry onion soup mix, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, water, and cornstarch. Pour over meat mixture and mix to combine. Cook over medium high heat stirring occasionally until gravy thickens, about 2 minutes.

Add the heated mashed potatoes to a bowl and combine with cheese, butter and half and half. Spoon over the top of meat mixture and put in the oven under high broil for 3-5 minutes. Garnish with parsley and serve.
