Hot Dogs

Summer is in full swing around our house and that means grilling.  Although it is SUPER HOT outside is still way better than making it hot inside with the oven.  Simple and classic recipes can always be spruced up when you grill and these California Hot Dogs are my way of taking the all American hot dog to the next level.

Don’t get me wrong the traditional dog is always a backyard favorite, but adding a few things like fresh sliced avocados, tomatoes, and feta cheese all on a toasted bun, makes each bite memorable and sensational.

What do you put on your hot dog?

Remember to think of what would taste good with the actual hot dog and don’t focus on the bun. The bun is just there to hold everything in and fits perfectly into your hand for convenient eating enjoyment.

  • Add your wet ingredients to the bun first, think mustard, ketchup, bbq sauce, mayonnaise.
  • Then add on your chunky elements, like diced onions, relish, jalapeños, tomatoes, avocados, etc.
  • To complete your hot dog top it off with some extra flavor like cheese, horseradish, pepper, or seasoning salt.

California Hot Dogs are such a delicious twist on the ever popular hot dogs and the flavor of the creamy avocado, and feta cheese gives this hot dog the taste Summer is made for.
